I’m not sure why, but just recently I’ve had a big bump in email and on-line notes about the Wilderness series, some really heartfelt and very kind responses. This is a general thank you to everybody for your support. Writing is a very solitary and often lonely way to make a living. Positive feedback from readers goes a long way to balance that out.

My name is Rosina Lippi. I'm a former academic and tenured university professor, writing full time since 2000. Under the pen name Sara Donati I am the author of the Wilderness series, six historical novels that follow the fortunes of a group of families living in upstate New York from about 1792-1825. A new series based on later generations of the same families was launched September 1, 2015 with The Gilded Hour. The next volume in the new series, Where the Light Enters, was released in 2019.

Wise Guys
If you are in difficulties with a book, try the element of surprise: attack it at an hour when it isn’t expecting it.

You are an excellent writer, Rosina!!
Thank you, everyone.
I make a point to re-read the entire series every year and I gain as much – if not more- pleasure from every single word as I did the first time around. I’m anxiously awaiting your next book.
Needless to say, I loved the Wilderness series and although I didn’t want it to end, I do appreciate your epilogue to “wrap it up”. I found it interesting that you chose that particular period of history for a setting. It was the perfect background, but I would think that it required an enormous amount of research, since that particular period is somewhat skipped over in our educational system. Was there anything in particular that made you want to write about that time?
Thank you Carol. It’s very good to hear from readers about the historical end of things. I set the stories in the time period specifically because it isn’t very well known (mostly because of the way history is taught, or isn’t taught). It always struck me as unfortunate, given all the interesting things going on. And a lot of research was involved, but that’s my favorite part.
Your Wilderness Series was a joy to read. Thank you! Thank you!
Do you have any other historical novels that I can read.
Gail — thank you, I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed the series. I have one other historical, but it’s very different from the Wilderness series. It’s under my real name, Rosina Lippi. But really, nothing like the Wilderness series, just so you know.
The Wilderness series is one of the best out there. Truly. I wish you will write more of the same since it sets them apart from many of the books published. I’m sorry I tried to read hour other books but they have no appeal. I don’t understand why you would switch gears like that. Too bad. When it’s something that good people love more of it. Hope you get inspired to write more like Sara Donati. Love her.
